Gautami is an OpenType font for the Indic script Telugu. Telugu is based on Unicode, contains TrueType outlines and was designed by Raghunath Joshi (Type D. The SALRC recommends the following fonts for Telugu language pedagogy and Internet applications. (Pothana2000.ttf) Free download from Kavya-nandanam.

  • It is an 'almost' traditional script font. The original version Kevin had created was a complete traditional font. From that, I (Cibu) have removed some stacking conjuncts since they were hard to read in small font sizes.
  • It is hinted and that makes it the best Malayalam font in small font sizes.
  • It works only in Windows and Linux; does not have the necessary tables to work correctly in Mac.
  • As of today, this is the most used Malayalam font in internet.
  • License is SIL OFL 1.1.

For Windows, it is easier to run Anjali Font Installer and that would do necessary settings for Internet Explorer.
